First things first...Happy New Years to everyone!! Hope you have a year of blessings, and God draws you closer and shows Himself to you like none other.
Kind of got discouraged with the Calorie Count website today. I've lost over 3 lbs since Monday. Personally, I think thats good, right?! Well, the site is estimating I'll meet my goal of 45 lbs by Dec. 2, 2010. Not exactly July 15, like I'd wanted. But, Jason being the ever encouraging husband said, "But, babe, you're just starting out. You'll do it." And thats why I love him. Ok, a lot more reasons, but still.
Well, I have been to the gym everyday this week, and its kicked my butt. I did the 45 min cardio dance class last night, and thought I was going to die. However, after I was done and had rested for a minute, I felt amazing. Not going to lie, had I gone to bed at 8:30, I would have immediately fallen asleep.
Did a decent workout today. Used to ab machines, and the lower body weights. Also, did 15 minutes of cardio. Less than what Ginger suggested, but seriously, I was sore.
The gym is closed tomorrow so I'll probably just talk Jason into going for a walk with me. Will definitely have to hit it hard Saturday. My workout sheet Ginger gave me says the goal is working out 3 days a week. I think if I want to hit my goal, I'm going to have to hit it harder than that. How many days should I be doing my workout: five, six days?
Made a homemade pizza tonight with fresh tomatoes w/ no salt added tomato sauce, part-skim mozzarella, fresh mushrooms boiled with a tiny bit of garlic salt and pepper, turkey pepperoni, and a lot of spices. Definitely wasn't the greasy pizza I'm used to, but definitely not filled with the calories of Jason's Tombstone 4-meat, I'm used to splitting with him. It was pretty good, just different. I will just have to get used to that taste, which I knowI can.
Until next time....thanks again for all the prayers and support people are giving me. I really appreciate it.
Day 29

Went to meet w/ Ginger for my workout plan. She's got me doing 2 sets of 10 on the machines. Upper body one day. Lower body the next. 20 minutes of cardio everyday. I just did cardio today with Jenni. She and I work out the same, it seems. She gets bored easily doing the same thing over and over, as do I.
Worked out today for almost an hour, and I'm pooped. My hips are so sore, which is a good thing. Hopefully that means they'll go away lol. Going to start rotating on the weights tomorrow. The paper said the goal is to do that workout 3 days a week. So, I figured I could walk/run with Jenni. And the days I don't work out with her, do the weights. With her work schedule, I have a feeling I'll only be working out a few days a week with her, so that will balance out.
Definitely need to charge up my iPod for tomorrow. Jenni's got to work, so I'll be on my own.
Started using a website called CalorieCounter. You have to be prepared to put some time into it, but its going to be worth it. You input what you're eating, what you're doing in your workout, and your resulting weight. It analyzes everything, and gives you pointers. I <3 it already.
Definitely forcing myself to be disciplined with this. I don't have church tomorrow, so I'll be experimenting w/ times at the gym. I may go really early, or right after lunch. Didn't seem like there were as many people.
Thanks for the continuous prayers, and support!!

Went to Jackson Fitness today....*drum roll, please*....I'm now a member, and will be for 12 months. I signed a contract. They waved the enrollment fee, and its cheaper than Gold's Gym. I'm very excited.
Worked out tonight. Ran 1/2 mile on the eliptical, did 1/2 mile on this sit-down cycling thing, and power walked for a mile. I have an appointment w/ a lady named Ginger tomorrow to sit down and discuss my goals, etc. She's going to come up w/ a 6 week workout for me. I'm glad that the membership came with that.
I'm actually going to start writing down what I'm eating. My scale tells me how many calories I need to maintain, so I need to make sure I'm eating quite a bit less.
Things I realized today....if Jenni isn't w/ me I must take my iPod. And, most importantly, ignore the teenage snot nosed cheerleaders who do ab work while I'm walking.

So, I'm 27 days into this journey and its been a slow one. I went to Gold's Gym and we just flat out couldn't afford all the upfront fees you have to pay. They were willing to "get creative with it," as they said. However, it just didn't work out. Was pretty defeated, and it really set a shadow over my goal.
"Is this really something I'm going to be able to do? Am I being realistic?"
Can't really change my job status at this point. Still filling out applications like WOAH, but so far nothing has come from any of them. Apparently, this is another lesson God is trying to teach me. And I trust Him with His timing (just don't always "get" it). But until I get a job, our budget doesn't really budge.
Well, the Lord provided, as He does in only His way. A girlfriend of mine from church told me that there was a local gym in Jackson that was a lot cheaper, and they would work with people. Plus, Jennie works out there, so I'd have an accountability buddy.
I'll be going out there to wheel and deal them tomorrow. Saw Jennie today and she said to call if I joined, because she'd come work out with me. That made just plain made me feel good.
This place is the same as Gold's, but A LOT cheaper. I have the $$ now to pay for a few months *hoping 3, but probably only 2.* And that will give me leeway of finding a job, etc, etc.
Having a little trouble cutting out some things. One of my favorite people Les Radcliff (my fitness guru) informed me that the artificial sweetners in diet drinks can cause you to become addicted. Thus, making your sweet tooth even more apparent. So, my non-existant sweet tooth has been on OVERLOAD. Tried to make it a point to eat yogurt when it goes on the fritz, but with all these Christmas goodies around...not the greatest thing.
Had a great Christmas with both families. Definitely ate too many things that would cause Jillian to yell at me. Gram said she could notice my face was getting thinner, and I just looked like I had been losing. (And the pictures we had taken at Thanksgiving backed that up tremendously.) Yet, anyone who knows my grandmother, knows thats a big deal. Made me smile all over.
We got the Biggest Loser scale from Gram for Christmas. It tells you your BMI based on inputted weight/height/age/sex. Plus, it tells you how many calories you need to consume everyday to maintain. That will be a HUGE help.
So, tomorrow is another big step. Hopefully everything works out. Keep this in your prayers, and my job search as well.

Had a meeting with Gold's Gym on Tuesday. Not so great. Was far more expensive than I expected it to be, so am going to have to wait til after a few paychecks.
When will I get a paycheck, who knows?! But, when it comes down to it, either I trust the Lord will provide or I don't. End of story. So, I'm going to trust.
Had a great interview yesterday. All things considered (misplacing my application, managers not communicating that I was scheduled, etc.). The interviewing manager said the GM would call me by the end of the week to set up another interview or an orientation. Orientation sounds amazing. I told them I wanted a host position, but would settle for a server's job. Praying that they give me a host spot.
The more I research, and plan, the more I'm committed to this. I'm going to lose this weight. I'm not going to be that person that gives to everyone else, and lets myself go. I have to take care of me before I can fully take care of anyone else. That might sound selfish to some. But thats how you get to where I am today.
I can do this. I'm not giving up. Jason and my mom are the best cheerleaders for this.
Thanks for the continued prayers.

Day One...

It all started with a wedding dress.....
I was one of the lucky ones. Tried on five, but the first one I tried on was perfect. Plus, it was on sale. They didn't have the exact size I needed so they had to order it. Nothing new for them.
The dress came in, and I had to go for my first fitting. It fit great, but needed a few minor adjustments.
Then came the final fitting. Alterations had been made, and I had to model it. I was so thankful I went alone. The dress wouldn't zip up. I was either seriously bloated, or I gained weight. I was FREAKING out.
So, I waited two weeks with little fast food and lots of water, and tried on the dress again. It zipped up completely.
Well, that was the almost realization.
Wedding went great. If you were there *and if you're reading this* you know how much fun it was. Was nervous everyday that maybe I'd gain those four pounds that would keep the zipper from going up.
Went on the honeymoon and started looking at the pictures taken. Second phase to the realization.
Then came Thanskgiving. I hopped on my in-laws bathroom scale and didn't like the number that popped up. So, I did what I always do. I later jumped on the computer and started doing research.
For me to be "healthy," for someone 5'4 with a large body frame, I should weigh 140-153 pounds. I really like that 13 pound leeway.
So, I made the decision that starting today, I'm taking the steps necessary to lose 40-45 pounds by July 15th: my 24th birthday.
I sat Jason down and told him my goal and what I was planning to do to get there. He's in full support.
What am I going to do to get there? I'm going to start with simple changes. No french fries, more water, and only one DIET soda a day. Three days a week I'm going to work out, and five days a week Jason and I will walk 20-30 minutes.
After a few weeks, I'll make more changes. I'm also going to start writing down everything I eat and drink. Supposedly that will make me more conscientious. We'll see.
I'm pretty excited about this, and nervous. I called Gold's Gym today and made a 3pm appointment to talk about getting a membership. I guess we'll see how that goes.
This is going to be a difficult battle for me. I've always said I wanted to lose weight, but never followed through longer than a few weeks. I need positive reinforcement and accountability. If you have something negative to say about this, keep it to yourself. I don't want to hear it.
I would appreciate all the prayers and support I can get in this journey!!
Stay tuned.
